From a public Nazihall to a shoppingtempel
Nowerdays consumerism and profitableness are vital criteria. Even historic sights experience that when investors are seeking space for investments. In Weimar the ups and downs of german history are particularly and manifoldly legible.The investor Josef Saller welcomes consumers since november 2005 in his new shoppingcenter »Atrium«. This building used to be part of Weimars Gauforum and was designed as a public hall during Nazi Germany, holding as much as 20.000 people. Now, tourists arrive in its welcomecenter when they visit Weimar.

We interviewed the investor, the director of the Buchenwald concentration-camp memorial and other people about the value of history and culture. Furthermore the investor presents his thoughts and concepts about Weimars tourism, his »italian village« and the idea behind his 3D welcomemovie.
